Types of Exercise

There are two types of exercise. Anaerobic and aerobic.

Aerobic is more commonly known as "cardio."
It is essentially any exercise that raises your heartrate for a set period of time and requires almost constant movement. For example, running, speedwalking, swimming, basketball, etc.

Anaerobic, is the opposite.
It is also known as strength training/weight lifting or resistance training. It focuses more on the muscles than the cardiovascular system.

These types of exercise each have their own benefits, and
both should be a part of every person's workout routine.

Resistance training strengthens our bones, joints, prevents osteoporosis, tones muscles and builds lean muscle mass, which helps burn calories.

Cardio conditions our heart and lungs, builds endurance, melts fat and boosts confidence.

We'll learn more later on how to incorporate both into your workout routine, but for now, let's find out how long and how often you should workout!
